Upcoming requirements for the Telecommunications sector

Under the EU CER Directive, a significant part of the telecommunications sector will be categorised as critical infrastructure. This entails background check requirements, although it is not directly stated in the Network and Services Security Act. CFCS has not yet published how the EU CER and NIS2 will be implemented in the telecoms sector.

The scope of background checks is likely to range from simple ID and resume checks to expanded background checks and actual Safety approvals from PET and FE.
